Good Morning,
This project provided valuable upgrades to our building, including boiler replacements, improvements to the hot water system, upgraded bathroom ventilation, energy-efficient lighting, and the replacement of select refrigerators and range hood fans. The work also included cooling system improvements to support resident comfort.
These upgrades represent a meaningful investment in our community, improving building operations, energy efficiency, and the quality of life for our residents. We are grateful for the collaboration and support of ownership, management, and everyone who helped bring this project to completion.
A very special thank-you goes to Miranda Silva for preparing the grant application, ensuring it was submitted, and following through to completion. Her dedication and attention to detail helped make these improvements possible, and her efforts will have a lasting impact on Kappa Tower I and the residents we serve.
Thank you,
Stacey Walker

Kappa Tower: Preserving a Denver Legacy
For more than 40 years, Kappa Tower has given Denver seniors on limited incomes an affordable place to call home. The six-story building was opened in 1984 by the Denver Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and it remains a cornerstone of Denver’s African-American community today. Like many aging affordable housing properties, it had limited funds for major improvements.
For years, our own Julie Stoyanova walked past Kappa Tower on her way to work and wondered whether it might qualify for energy efficiency upgrades through the Colorado Energy Office Weatherization Assistance Program, or WAP for short. It did.
EOC invested approximately $310,000 in upgrades through our WAP program, including a new central heating system, cooling tower repairs, efficient lighting and water fixtures, and new refrigerators. The work is projected to save $7,100 in energy costs the first year, and the benefits also go beyond dollars.

Building on our recent partnership in Colorado, St. Charles Town Company has selected SMP to manage Broadway Farms at Hurley Station, marking SMP’s first expansion into the Arizona market.
